For her final project piece, Cora designed and made an Ash steam-bent bar stool.
“The inspiration for the stool came from playing with the pieces of wood bent during the steam bending demonstration, exploring the interaction of the curves with one another.
Adapting this to make a comfortable bar stool involved some ambitious bends with a small radius, so ash was best suited to achieving these. I chose brown oak for the details on the wedged mortise and tenons to provide a contrast to the lighter wood.
This bar stool is a prototype and I am hoping to adapt the design to create dining chairs and counter stools”.
